(Clarion, Pa.) Clarion's Abby Cox had 9 kills, Kaley Pittsley had 34 set assists, and Morgan Seybold had 30 digs, but the Golden Eagles lost to the Mercyhurst Lakers in three sets on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Tippin Gymnasium.

With the loss, Clarion's record falls to 19-15 on the season and 15-7 in the PSAC West, and with the victory Mercyhurst improves to 18-15 on the season and 13-9 in PSAC West. Clarion will finish second in the PSAC-West.

With Gannon also losing to IUP today, Clarion and Gannon tied for second in the PSAC-West with identical records of 15-7. Since Clarion is 2-0 against the Golden Knights in head-to-head play, Clarion will win the tie breaker and be declared the second place team for PSAC-West playoff purposes. Clarion will host Gannon on Tuesday night at Waldo S. Tippin Gym in the first round of the PSAC Playoffs starting at 7pm. The match will be a WHITE-OUT - and the first 200 Clarion students with a valid ID will get a free t-shirt.

In the first set of the match Clarion jumped out to a 13-9 lead, but they were not able to hold on to the lead as they lost the first set by a score of 25-22.  The second set was more of the same as Mercyhurst was able to win the second set by a score of 26-24.  In the final set of the match Mercyhurst won by a score of 25-18 and defeated the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles got contributions from Gabrielle Olson and Taylor Braunagel had 8 kills each and Mackenzie Biggs added 7 kills.  Also for Clarion Morgan Herold added 13 digs.
