(Akron, Ohio): Clarion's
Delrika Jones-Carey posted 10 points and 10 rebounds and
Tyra Polite added 14 points, but the Golden Eagles lost a 79-50 exhibition game at NCAA D-I Akron on Sunday.
The game for the Golden Eagles was the final tune-up before the season opener on Friday, November 13
th at 5pm at West Virginia State.
Playing four quarters this season, Clarion trailed 25-11 after the first quarter and 49-29 at halftime. The Zips outscored Clarion 19-4 in the third quarter and Clarion rallied in the fourth to outscore Akron 17-11.
Clarion was led in the game by
Delrika Jones-Carey, who had 10 points and 10 rebounds with 2 steals and 1 assist.
Tyra Polite meanwhile added 14 points and
Stevie Ray and
Jen Straw added 8 each.
Akron was led by Anita Brown who had 23 points.
