CLARION, Pa. – In a game with major PSAC playoff implications, the Clarion University men's basketball team travels south to play California (Pa.) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Golden Eagles (8-11 overall, 6-10 PSAC West) trail Cal (12-10, 8-9), Edinboro and Pitt-Johnstown by a game each in the loss column with six PSAC games left for the final two PSAC playoff spots awarded to the West.
The game can be heard locally on 91.7 FM, WCUC, as well as on the internet

Clarion has won two straight including a 72-58 win over Seton Hill Wednesday when
BJ Andrews threw in a career-high 29 points. The Golden Eagles already own a win over the Vulcans, beating them 80-73 Dec. 6 for the first conference win for first-year head coach
Marcess Williams. In that game,
Darius Stevens and
Brandon Williams each had 18 points, while
Kyheim Hall had 17 for Clarion. Richard Smith paced Cal with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
Hall, Stevens and Andrews are the offensive stalwarts for Clarion with Hall averaging 12.2 points per game and Andrews and Stevens 12.1 each. Hall also averages a team-best 6.3 rebounds per contest, with Stevens, who is coming off a 12-point, 12-rebound effort against Seton Hill, 5.9 rpg.
Rob Agurs chips in 9.2 ppg and 5.5 rpg, Williams adds 8.7 ppg and
Cameron Grumley 8.1 ppg to go with a team-high 40 assists.
Cal, which has dropped four straight and six of seven, is coming off a 64-56 loss at No. 18 IUP Wednesday. The Vulcans are paced by Khalil Jabbie's 12.9 ppg, while Smith adds 11.4 ppg and 8.6 rpg and Jake Jacubec 10.9 ppg.
After Saturday, Clarion returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Gannon.
NOTES – The game is just a single game at Cal and won't be part of a men's/women's doubleheader. The Golden Eagle women's team will travel to Cal for a 1 p.m. game Sunday. It marks the first time Clarion's teams haven't participated in a PSAC doubleheader since the 1991 season when the men played Lock Haven Feb. 27 and the women played Lock Haven Jan. 16. The change was necessitated because of the death of a Cal women's player in mid-January. The funeral of Shanice Clark, who passed away Jan. 16, is Friday and Saturday in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, meaning the women's game needed to be pushed back a day.
