Game Recap: Softball |

WILCOX CONTINUES HOT STREAK BUT SOFTBALL FALLS TWICE AT SRU

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Casey Wilcox had her sixth and seventh consecutive multiple-hit games, while Megan Anderson was on base twice with an RBI, but the Clarion University softball team was swept in a PSAC West doubleheader at Slippery Rock Monday.

The Golden Eagles dropped game one 2-0 and game two 5-2 despite Wilcox going 2-for-3 in each game including a double, her fourth of the season, in game two. Wilcox is now hitting a robust .460 while going 14-for-23 (.609) in her last seven games. She now has nine multiple-hit games in her last 12 contests.

Anderson, meanwhile, was 1-for-2 with a walk in game one and added an RBI sacrifice fly in game two, her third RBI of the year.

Carra Stevens was also 1-for-2 while getting hit by a pitch in the opener, and Kayla Henderson, Christina Tressler and Lydia Middaugh each had hits in the nightcap with Middaugh's being a double. Middaugh and Audrey Hummel scored the Clarion runs in game two.

Paige Baker pitched a strong game in the opener giving up just the two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five, matching her season high for strikeouts.

Shawnna Crago was also solid in game two giving up five runs, four earned, on seven hits and a walk while also striking out five.

Clarion is slated to be back in action Tuesday at California (Pa.) in a PSAC West doubleheader.
