CLARION VB 1-1 SATURDAY AT VULCAN INVITE (California, Pa.):
Clarion's Taylor Braunagel had 17 kills,
Marissa Robertson 16 kills,
Kaley Pittsley 45 assists and
Morgan Seybold 24 digs as the Golden Eagles defeated Fairmont State 3-1 to gain a split on Saturday at the Vulcan Volleyball Invitational hosted at California.
Clarion lost the opening set 25-19, but rallied for three straight wins of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-16 and defeated Fairmont State in the final match of the weekend. Clarion lost earlier on Saturday to Truman State by a 3-1 margin. Truman won the first two sets 25-14, 25-15, Clarion won 25-18 and Truman came back to win the set and match 26-24. Clarion led that final set 24-23 and had a chance to send the match into a fifth set, but Truman scored the final three points to clinch the win.
The Golden Eagles were 1-3 at the Vulcan Invite and will next be in action at Saint Rose on Friday and Daemen on Saturday.
In the win over Fairmont State, the hitting attack was led by
Taylor Braunagel's 17 kills and a 35% hitting percentage, and
Marissa Robertson's 16 kills and 7 digs.
Kaley Pittsley meanwhile had 45 assists and 8 digs,
Morgan Seybold had 24 digs and 5 assists and
Mackenzie Biggs 7 kills, 9 digs and 3 blocks.
In the 3-1 loss to Truman, Braunagel had 11 kills, while Robertson had 7 kills and 10 digs, Pittsley 32 assists,
Morgan Seybold 14 digs and
Catherine Ferragonio 10 digs.
