CLARION SPIKERS DEFEAT SAINT ROSE 3-1
(ALBANY, N.Y.): The Clarion women's volleyball team got 12 kills from
Marissa Robertson, 24 digs from
Morgan Seybold and 36 assists from
Kaley Pittsley as the Golden Eagles defeated Saint Rose on Friday night by a 3-1 margin.
Clarion raised its record to 2-7 overall, while Saint Rose dropped to 3-4.
The Golden Eagles won their second straight of the season with their 3-1 win on Friday night by scores of 25-14, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-19.
In the first set Clarion blew out to a 10-2 lead, paced with 3 kills from
Marissa Robertson and never looked back winning 25-14.
The second set was tied at 18-18 when Clarion went on a 4-0 run to take a commanding 22-18 advantage.
Gabrielle Olson had a kill and a block in that run.
After losing the third set, the Eagles stormed back in the fourth set with leads of 10-4 and 19-10 while putting the match away.
On the attack, Robertson led the team with 12 kills, while
Abbey Cox and
Gabrielle Olson had 8 each. Olson posted 8 kills in 11 tries, a hitting percentage of 72.7%. Olson also contributed 4 blocks.
Pittsley sported 36 assists, while Seybold had 24 digs, Pittsley 8 digs and
Catherine Ferragonio 7 digs.
Clarion is back in action on Saturday morning at 11am against Daemen.
