ALLIANCE, Ohio - A pair of Clarion wrestlers had solid days on the road on Sunday, with
Nick Shawley and
Evan Daley producing good results at the Purple Raider Open hosted by Mount Union.
Daley got one of the nicer results of the day, picking up a win by fall over Ohio's Devin King in his opening round match in the 285 bracket. Â He was able to put King on his back with just 28 seconds remaining in the second period, pinning him to advance to the quarterfinal round against Purdue's Jacob Aven. Â There Daley was engaged in a tough bout, just narrowly falling to Aven by a 3-2 score.
Shawley also recorded a win on Sunday, and in fact nearly took a major decision with his victory over Iliamin Turdubaev of Cincinnati. Â He worked Turdubaev for a 9-2 win to advance to the quarterfinals of the 184 bracket.
