Game Recap: Basketball (Men's) |

MBB GROUNDED BY PITT-JOHNSTOWN ON THE ROAD

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Clarion men's basketball team had a tough time getting things going offensively on the road on Monday, falling 82-57 to Pitt-Johnstown in Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference play.  With the loss the Golden Eagles fall to 10-10 overall and 7-7 in PSAC play.

Clarion shot just 36.2 percent from the floor while the Mountain Cats went off for a 54.5 field goal percentage and outrebounded them 40-31.  The Golden Eagles forced 15 turnovers while committing just 12 themselves, though, including eight team steals.

Tim Gill scored a team-high 13 points and also hauled in a team-best six rebounds on the evening, getting to the free throw line 14 times; by comparison, Pitt-Johnstown shot just 17 free throws themselves.  BJ Andrews added 12 points in 29 minutes of action, and Cameron Grumley came off the bench for eight points, three steals and two rebounds.

The closest portion of the game was early on, with Clarion staying within just a few possessions of the Mountain Cats for the first 13 minutes of action.  De'Ondre Terrell tied the then-low scoring game at 15 with 13:19 left to go in the half, and Andrews drained a three-pointer at the 11:19 mark to keep the Mountain Cats within arm's length two minutes later.

It was still just a three-possession game at the 7:37 mark of the first half when Justin Dobbs scored a transition jumper to make it 28-21, but the Mountain Cats went on a 25-2 run to take firm control of the action.  They led at halftime by a score of 47-27 and kept the lead in double-digits for the remainder of the game, taking the 25-point win at home.
