Eagles fall on the road to #5 West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. - The Clarion University men's basketball team fell on the road to the #5 West Liberty Hilltoppers by a final score of 99-82 Sunday evening.  The loss moves the Golden Eagles to 5-5 (3-2 PSAC) on the season.  The Blue and Gold will return to action on December 30th when they take on Pitt Johnstown.

Jamani Pierce paced the Golden Eagles offensively, leading the team with 17 points, going 5-8 from the field, as well as knocking down seven of nine from the free-throw line.  Manny Powell also enjoyed a strong performance, putting up 14 points and adding six assists.  Akeem Williams and RJ Laugand each posted a team-high five rebounds.

Full results:

Although the Blue and Gold managed to knock down 11 three-pointers on the evening, they could not outlast a physically tough Hilltoppers squad that out-rebounded them 47-33.  Down just five points at the end of the first 20 minutes, West Liberty's size advantage in the paint was enough of an advantage to stave off any hopes of a Golden Eagles comeback.
