CLARION, Pa. - For the first time since the 2009-10 season, the Clarion men's basketball team will compete in the PSAC Tournament, with the Golden Eagles set to take on the Edinboro Fighting Scots on Saturday, Feb. 27. Â The game will be held in Edinboro. Â Tip-off for Saturday's game has yet to be determined.
The Golden Eagles recorded a 10-12 record in conference action this year and will enter the tournament as the sixth seed. Â They finished the regular season with an identical conference record to Slippery Rock but hold the tiebreaker with The Rock thanks to a 2-0 record against them this year. Â Edinboro's 14-8 conference record earned them the third seed in the field.
The first two meetings between the teams this year were instant classics, with the home team winning in overtime in each instance. Â In their first meeting of the year, Clarion held Edinboro without a field goal for the final 4:38 of the overtime period to beat the Fighting Scots by a score of 74-68 at Tippin Gymnasium. Â
Rob Agurs had 30 points in the rematch between the two teams, this time a 97-94 overtime victory for Edinboro.
The game will be broadcast on WCUC-FM 91.7 with a free audio stream available via Red Zone Media. Â Pregame coverage will begin at 2:45 p.m.
