The Golden Eagles managed to keep pace with the Rock in the first half, fighting off the scoring attack from SRU to keep within striking distance throughout the games opening frame. Although they trailed 33-25 at the half, CU was getting open looks and was just a few timely buckets away from being right back even.
The Blue and Gold struggled to deal with the Rock's advantages in the post however, losing the battle for boards 15-8 in the second half. Those boards plus a slew of Clarion penalties that sent SRU to the line all night proved to be their Achilles heel in this one.
