LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa – Lincoln University used a strong second half to pull away from the Clarion Golden Eagles 89-79 in a non-conference men's basketball contest Tuesday evening.
Clarion (2-5) led virtually the entire first half, but the Lions caught up with a pair of free throws in the final seconds to grab a 42-41 halftime lead.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 14 points, midway through the first half, and limited Lincoln to just 38% from the floor and just 2 of 11 from 3-point range.
The second half was a different story as Lincoln shot 50% from the floor, led by Gevon Arrington, who scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half.
Clarion was led by
Kyheim Hall, who registered a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Senior
Cameron Grumley added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
The Golden Eagles shot nearly 40% from the floor on the night, but were held in check from three point range, going just 7 of 24 (29%). PSAC freshman of the week,
Mason Mraz, was also held in check, making 2 of 5 attempts on the night.
Up next for Clarion is a trip to Millersville University on Saturday, December 2
nd, for a PSAC tilt against the Marauders. Tip-off is set for 3pm.
