SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa – A first half goal was the difference, as the Clarion women's soccer team was edged 1-0 on the road against PSAC rival Slippery Rock University.
Clarion drops to 2-3-1 (1-3-1 PSAC) while SRU improves to 3-1-1 and remains unbeaten in PSAC play at 3-0-1.
Slippery Rock's Kaitlyn Barackman tallied a first half goal in the 36
th minute on a long ball put in from midfield, to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.
Clarion again proved stingy on defense, behind goalkeeper
Krista Mosi (South Park, Pa., South Park)'s 11 saves, the Clarion back line bent but did not break.
Despite a heavy attack from the Slippery Rock offense, Clarion remained within striking distance until the end.
Julianna Iocco (Wilmington, Mass., Wilmington) registered the lone shot on goal for the Golden Eagles.
Clarion will return home this weekend when they host visiting Shippensburg University on Saturday Sep 16
th at 6:00pm.
