ERIE, Pa – The Clarion women's swimming and diving team claimed an impressive victory in their first dual meet of the season, defeating Gannon 125-113 Friday night. The next full team event will be on November 2, when the Golden Eagles head to Shippensburg to face off against the Raiders.

The 200 Yard Medley of
Ava Arnold,
Michelle Morrisey,
Autumn Fortney and
Gabi Wayne started the night with a second place finish with a final time of 1:52.91. The Golden Eagles also took second in the only other relay of the night, a 1:40.33 performance in the 200 Free Relay.

Mary Clare Smith won the first women's individual event of the night, winning the 1000 Free with a final time of 11:14.52. Smith also finished second in the 500 free with a time of 5:30.01. Morrisey placed second in the 200 Yard IM with a final time of 2:19.35. Â

Becca Yonek continued to impress with her early season success, and tonight won the 500 Free setting the pace with a final time of 5:27.28, nearly three seconds ahead of the pack. She later placed second in the 200 Free with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:01.91.

In the diving events,
Christina Sather won both the 1M dive and the 3M dive posting scores of 196.2 and 269.15. Her teammates
Emma Kehn and
Maranda Leidwinger took second and third respectively to round out both the diving events.

The diving team will be back in action on October 26 and 27 when they head on the rode to face the Titans of Westminster.
