CLARION, Pa. - Â The Clarion Women's Soccer team squared off against PSAC opponent IUP Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, falling by a final score of 3-0. Clarion (2-11-0, 1-11) will head on the road for a non-conference matchup before returning home to face PSAC opponent California (Pa.) on Oct. 17.

The matchup proved to be a very physical one as the teams combined for 18 total fouls. Â Gabrielle DeSousa picked up the only yellow card of the match in the 62
nd minute.

 Clarion finished with six total shots on net, including three in the first period, but were unable to sneak one past the keeper as the Crimson Hawks claimed the win.

IUP's Nikki Bowman and Mahogany Willis scored in the first half, giving the Crimson Hawks the early lead they needed in the contest. Bowman scored her fifth goal of the season on a crossing pass from Kallie Conte. Willis scored her tenth goal of the season on a through pass from Gia Martyn that just found its way over the outstretched arms of the keeper Stermel.

The best Golden Eagle opportunity came when
Charlotte Allen crossed a corner kick into the box intended for
Andie Hill but the IUP keeper, Madeline Smakulski, made a diving save to end the threat. Allen had multiple opportunities on net , firing two shots from a distance and a couple inside the box but she was unable to find the back of net.

Mahogany Willis scored her eleventh goal of the season when she broke away from the Golden Eagle defense and found the lower right corner of the net with just 50 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Golden Eagles travel to Daemen College on Sunday for a non-conference matchup scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
