­MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Clarion softball team continued action at the Snowbird Freeze Out on Saturday, falling by a score of 13-5 to Merrimack in the early game and by a 10-2 score to Southern New Hampshire in the nightcap.  They'll close their weekend tomorrow with games against Molloy and Le Moyne. 
 
Rebecca Kelley fell in the early game to the Warriors, allowing 11 runs – just five earned – in 4.2 innings pitched.  Merrimack rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the win over the Golden Eagles.  Macy Rubin dropped the late game against the Penmen, allowing 10 runs – just four earned – in 4.1 innings pitched.
 
The Golden Eagles led Merrimack 4-2 in the top of the second inning, when Jessica Cartia bashed a grand slam over the left field wall to plate Taylor Nonnenberg, Alexis Boie and Natalie Else.  Else, Boie and Cassidy Runyan all added two hits against the Warriors.  Clarion re-took the lead in the fourth inning thanks to an RBI single by Runyan that made it 5-4, but Merrimack exploded in the fifth inning to take the win.
 
Clarion took an early lead in the game against SNHU as well, with Moriah Lynn scoring on an RBI double from Else.  The Penmen added two in the bottom of the first and three more in the second to make it 5-1.  Haley Pszyk scored on a single by Aryn Boyer in the top of the fourth, but SNHU tacked on a number of runs the rest of the way to finish off the game.
