MBB falls to Pitt-Johnstown, 86-67

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Clarion University men's basketball team fell 86-67 on the road Saturday afternoon to Pitt-Johnstown.

The Golden Eagles drop to 3-20, 0-17 PSAC on the season while the Mountain Cats improve 11-10 and 9-8 in the PSAC.

Clarion shot 43% from the floor in the first half and trailed by a score of 43-27 at the break.

Clarion's Brandon Williams hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 8 points late in the first half but the Mountain Cats responded and extended their lead to double-digits and put the game out of reach.

For Clarion, Williams led the way with 15 points while Maqi Watson and RJ Laugand each added 8 points. Kuante Sargent returned to the lineup on Saturday and scored 8 points in 14 minutes of work. 

Pitt-Johnstown was led by Isaac Vescovi, who netted 23 points on the afternoon. Vescovi entered the day 3rd in the PSAC West in scoring at 21.3 points per game.

The Mountain Cats sweep the season series, having won 74-59 at Clarion back on December 30th.

The Golden Eagles will have a midweek bye this coming week before returning to the court on February 10th when they travel to Slippery Rock for a 3pm tip-off.
