HILTON HEAD ISLAND – The Clarion tennis team returned to action after several weeks off, falling by a 9-0 score to West Liberty on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles (3-3) will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against Fairmont State.

The Hilltoppers won all nine matches on the courts on Tuesday, taking three doubles matches and six singles matches en route to the victory.Â
Vinisha Reddy and
Katie Benson had a solid showing in the No. 2 doubles match, but ultimately fell by an 8-3 score to Alaina Pauley and Ana Berbel.

In singles competition,
Michelle Petrilla put on a good show against Pauley in the No. 5 match, pushing her deep in the second set but eventually falling 6-1, 6-4. Benson likewise did well in the No. 4 singles match but lost to Ekaterina Pinchuk 6-3, 6-0.
