ERIE, Pa. – The Clarion women's soccer team fell 3-0 on the road Thursday afternoon in their season opener at Gannon University.
The Golden Knights struck for a pair of first-half goals, first a corner kick headed in by Nicole Felice in the 13
th minute, followed by a successful penalty kick from Emily Cekella in the 26
th minute.
Gannon's Taylor Lewis added a goal in the 76
th minute to extend the lead to 3-0 and put the game out of reach for the Golden Eagles.
The Clarion offense got off to a slow start but picked up the pace in the second half, recording six total shots, three of which were on goal.
Freshman
Mackenzie Sheldon led Clarion with two shots on goal, while junior
Meliah Roman added the third.
Senior goalkeeper
Krista Mosi played all 90 minutes in net, registering eight saves.
Clarion will play their home-opener this Saturday (Sept 1) when they host the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven University. Saturday's contest is scheduled for a 5pm start at Memorial Stadium.
