Soccer drops 1-0 decision to Slippery Rock

CLARION, Pa. – Slippery Rock's Jordyn Minda broke free in the 54th minute to net the eventual game-winner as the visiting Rock edged Clarion 1-0 in women's soccer action Wednesday night.

The Golden Eagles (0-5) played tough on both ends of field, setting a season-high with 11 shots, eight of which were on goal while limiting Slippery Rock (4-1) to just four shots on goal.

Clarion's back line was solid throughout the night, headed by juniors Andie Hill and Elle Stine, along with newcomers Alexis Moyer and Leann Wynder.

Goalkeeper Krista Mosi kept the Golden Eagles within striking distance by making a pair of crucial second-half saves.

The young offense showed signs of improvement on Wednesday, recording eight shots on net by seven different players, led by freshman Cameron Rodriguez with two.

Senior Veronika Noyszewski also added a shot on goal and created several scoring chances on the night, playing strong on both ends of the field.

Up next for Clarion is a trip to Shippensburg this Saturday for a 1pm matchup with the Raiders (3-1).
