Game Recap: Basketball (Women's) |

Women's Basketball Falls at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Clarion women's basketball team fell in a PSAC West road contest on Wednesday evening, dropping an 86-61 decision to Slippery Rock at Morrow Field House.  The Golden Eagles (7-9, 1-8 PSAC) will be on the road for their next game as well, when they head to Erie to take on Gannon Saturday.

Kadijah Dickson scored a team-high 15 points on 7-of-19 shooting, while Yasmin Lewis finished with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.  Yndiah Bobo scored 14 points, while Jordan Bekelja returned to the lineup and scored 10 points off the bench.

Clarion shot much better in the second half than in the fist, going 13-of-32 in the final 20 minutes for a 40.6 field goal percentage.  They also went 3-of-4 from three-point range in the second half as they attempted to close the gap with The Rock.

The Golden Eagles nearly erased a nine-point deficit in the first quarter, going on a 6-0 run down the stretch to pull within one basket in the final 1:21 of the period.  Bekelja started things off with a midrange jumper at the 1:21 mark, and Lewis added a make with 31 seconds remaining to cut the lead to five points.  Dickson finished off the run with a transition bucket, swiping the ball from Brooke Hinderliter and scoring as time expired to make it 19-16 at the end of the quarter.

Lewis cut the lead to one point early in the second quarter, scoring on a putback 37 seconds into the period to make it a 19-18 game, and Dickson knocked down a jumper at the 7:53 mark to put Clarion ahead 23-22.  It was the last time the Golden Eagles led, though, as The Rock outscored Clarion 16-6 the rest of the period and took a 38-29 lead at the half.

Slippery Rock was in control of the game the rest of the way, keeping the lead in double digits en route to the win.  It was a 12-point deficit at the end of the third quarter, and The Rock led by as many as 28 points in the fourth.
