The Golden Knights gained an early lead, scoring four points in the first 30 seconds of the ballgame, but Clarion tied it at 10 with a good three pointer from junior
Elijah Cottrill just under 15 minutes in the first half. Unfortunately that is as close as the ball game would get, with Gannon building the lead to as big as 24 points in the first half. The Golden Knights would take a 37-18 lead in to the half on the backs of 11 first half points from Kofi Mills and Daryl Porter.
Â
Khari Williams paced the Golden Eagles offense in the first half scoring nine of his team-high 11 points throughout the first period of play. Williams would finish the match with 11 total points and two boards in 35 minutes of action.
Lawrence Lemon added 10 points and three rebounds, while grabbing one steal. Redshirt-Freshman
Kass Taylor picked up quality minutes off of the bench for the Golden Eagles, grabbing two rebounds in 10 minutes of action.
Â
To start the second half Mills tipped in a missed layup from Porter stretching the lead to 21 points and the lead would continue to grow from there. The Golden Eagles shot 28% on the day compared to Gannon's 45%, while shooting 39% from beyond the arc.
Â
For Gannon Mills scored a game-high 19 points, while Victor Olawoye and Matt Johnson each added 12. Porter grabbed a game-high seven boards and added 11 points for the Golden Knights.
Â
The loss moves the Blue and Gold to 5-20 on the year, 3-17 in PSAC play, while Gannon improves to 10-17, 8-12 in PSAC play. With the win against Clarion tonight the Golden Knights clinch a PSAC Tournament First Round spot.
