CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion softball team played their fourth of five straight home doubleheaders on Sunday, falling in both ends of a twinbill to Edinboro at Memorial Field.  The Golden Eagles (0-23) dropped the first game 19-2 and the second 8-0, both in five innings.  They will be back in action on Friday when they host IUP in the first PSAC Central doubleheader of the season. 
 
Moriah Lynn was the only Clarion player to record hits in both ends of the doubleheader, going 1-for-3 with an RBI in the first game and adding another base knock in the nightcap.  That bumped her average up to .319, and her 10 RBI's on the season rank second behind just Jessica Cartia. 
 
Macy Rubin (0-8) started the first game of the day, but the Fighting Scots jumped on top 2-0 after one inning and added five more runs in the second to take a commanding lead early in the game.  Lynn's run-scoring double came in the bottom of the third inning and started with Chelsea Liroff's leadoff single. Lynn smashed a double to deep left-center to bring Liroff around for the score, cutting Edinboro's lead to 9-1.  The Fighting Scots tacked on six more runs in the next inning to make the result a foregone conclusion, though Liroff scored in the bottom of the sixth inning when an errant throw by the shortstop allowed Nicole Collins to reach with two outs.
 
The late game was actually much closer than the score indicated, in the sense that the Fighting Scots scored all eight of their runs in the top of the second inning.  Other than that, it was zero after zero for both teams as Liroff threw three innings of two-hit, shutout ball in relief of Kira Smith (0-4).  Amanda Metz kept the Golden Eagles off balance at the plate, allowing just two hits – to Lynn and Katie Zameroski – and walking only one.
