CLARION, Pa. - The Edinboro Fighting Scots scored two early first half goals to grab the win against the Clarion women's soccer team, winning by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday.
Edinboro improves their overall record to 3-2-0 and improve their PSAC West record to 3-0-0. Clarion falls to 1-4-0 overall, 0-4-0 in the PSAC West.
The Fighting Scots started fast, scoring two goals in the first 30 minutes of action both by Jessica Frank. Frank broke the tie when she found the back of the net off of an assist from Brittnie Spithaler. Frank put the Fighting Scots on top 2-0 just seven minutes later when she snuck a shot past Clarion's keeper Brynn Markley off of a cross from Leah Czechowski. Â
The Golden Eagles held Edinboro in check in  the second half, limiting the Fighting Scots to just nine shots in the half. Edinboro totaled 20 shots in the match and eight shots on goal.
The Golden Eagles cut the lead in half in the 71st minute when Madison Spitko beat Edinboro's keeper Anna Voelker off of a cross from freshman Jaci Bowser to pull Clarion back within one.
The Golden Eagles totaled eight shots on the night with Alexis Moyer leading the way with two total shots. Markley played tough between the posts making five saves on the night, while Spitko, Andie Hill and Meliah Roman each had shots on goal. The Golden Eagles totaled eight total shots and five shots on goal against the Fighting Scots.
The Blue and Gold will be back in action on Wednesday, September 25, when they head to Greensburg to take on Seton Hill at 4 p.m.
