Soccer Falls to Seton Hill on the Road

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Heading south to Greensburg, the Clarion women's soccer took on PSAC West foe Seton Hill on Wednesday, falling 4-2 to the Griffins at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.  The Golden Eagles (1-5-0, 0-5-0 PSAC West) will look to rebound next Wednesday when they host Mercyhurst at Memorial Stadium.
 
Seton Hill got the scoring started early when Italia Biondi scored her fourth goal of the season in the 10th minute of action after a cross from Katie Kimmich found the back of the net near the left post. The Griffins scored again in the 21st minute to make the score 2-0 when Alyssa Neast scored off of a throw in from Hope Creamer to put the Griffins in control.
 
The scoring wasn't over for the Griffins though, in the 31st minute Alexis Garia scored off of a give and go from Creamer in the right upper ninety to put Seton Hill up 3-0. The Griffins would score one more goal in the second half to give them the commanding 4-0 lead.
 
In the second half the Golden Eagles would battle back. In the 76th minute Andie Hill pulled Clarion closer when she scored a header off of a cross from Cameron Rodriguez to pull Clarion back within three.
 
Hill scored her second goal of the game and the season in the 86th minute of play when she took a shot that bounced over the Griffins keeper to cut the lead in half.
 
The Griffins buckled down on defense and shut out the Golden Eagles for the rest of the match giving them the victory.
 
Hill paced the offense for Clarion totaling three shots on net, while her teammates Leann Wynder and Alexis Moyer each had one goal.
 
As a team the Golden Eagles totaled eight shots on goal and eight corner kicks. As a unit Clarion made seven saves with Brynn Markley making four and Wendy Beveridge making three.
