Women's Golf Wraps Second Day at Shriners Hospital Shootout

Final Results

MASON, W.Va.
– The Clarion women's golf team improved tremendously on their team score from a day previous, with the Golden Eagles taking seventh at the Shriners Hospital Shootout hosted by Ohio Valley thanks to a big jump in play.  Clarion will now take the next several weeks to train before competing in the 2019 PSAC Championships.

The Golden Eagles cut a massive 33 strokes from their Saturday score at Riverside G.C., with ever golfer cutting at least four strokes from the previous day and one – Christan Bowshier – slicing off 15 strokes from Saturday.  That gave Clarion a team score of 389, a major improvement over Saturday's 422.

Morgan VanLeer carded a round of 89 on Sunday to pace the Golden Eagles, putting her in 24th for the weekend, and Mackenzie Cassidy notched a 96 to come up one place behind her, at 25th overall.  Bowshier was the story of the day, though, improving four spots on the leaderboard by shooting a 93 that was second-best on the team for Sunday's round and put her at 28th.  Emily DeMartino did her part with a seven-stroke improvement from the previous day, shooting a 111 to finish 39th overall.
