MASON, W.Va. – The Clarion women's golf team improved tremendously on their team score from a day previous, with the Golden Eagles taking seventh at the Shriners Hospital Shootout hosted by Ohio Valley thanks to a big jump in play. Clarion will now take the next several weeks to train before competing in the 2019 PSAC Championships.

The Golden Eagles cut a massive 33 strokes from their Saturday score at Riverside G.C., with ever golfer cutting at least four strokes from the previous day and one –
Christan Bowshier – slicing off 15 strokes from Saturday. That gave Clarion a team score of 389, a major improvement over Saturday's 422.

Morgan VanLeer carded a round of 89 on Sunday to pace the Golden Eagles, putting her in 24
th for the weekend, and
Mackenzie Cassidy notched a 96 to come up one place behind her, at 25
th overall. Bowshier was the story of the day, though, improving four spots on the leaderboard by shooting a 93 that was second-best on the team for Sunday's round and put her at 28
th.Â
Emily DeMartino did her part with a seven-stroke improvement from the previous day, shooting a 111 to finish 39
th overall.
