CLARION, Pa. – The Golden Eagle football team announced the addition of 35 student-athletes as part of their incoming class this week. The total number includes 28 incoming freshmen and seven transfer students, with the large and diverse group representing nine states as well as Sweden.
Â
"I am excited about this 2020 recruiting class, including our midyear transfers and other additions," said Clarion head coach
Chris Weibel. "They bring not only exceptional speed and size to our program, but also strong academics and high character. We hold our student-athletes to high standards in those areas. We are very optimistic about where our program is heading and this group is part of that."
Â
Pennsylvanians make up the largest portion of the newest class of Golden Eagles, with 19 athletes from the Keystone State choosing to continue their athletic and academic careers at Clarion. New York is next with four student-athletes, followed by two apiece from Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Delaware and New Jersey. The Golden Eagles will also welcome newcomers from Florida, Massachusetts and Sweden, the latter of which represents the third Swede to come to Clarion in the last two years.
