CLARION, Pa. -  Making their season debut at their home nest of Tippin Natatorium on Saturday afternoon, the Clarion women's swimming team fell to the visiting IUP Crimson Hawks by a final score of 147-52. The loss moves the Golden Eagles to 0-1 on the young season. 

Looking to rebound, the blue and gold will be back in action on Saturday, February 6th when they host the Gannon Golden Knights. Swimmers will start the meet at 10 am, while the divers will make a splash at noon. 

The 200 Medley Relay team of Ava Arnold, Candice Chalus, Courtney Kosanovic and Gabi Wayne got the scoring started for Clarion, picking up a fourth finish and two team points with a final time of 1:54.23.

Gabi Wayne followed that up with a second place finish just a few events later in the 50 Free when she touched the wall with a final mark of 25.63, good enough for four team points. 

Just one event later, Mary Clare Smith followed up the top three finish with a second place finish of her own in the 200 IM racing to four team points with a final time of 2:23.99.

Picking up the best finish of the night was Kosanovic in the 100 Fly, picking up nine team points when she raced to a 1:02.74 finish as the Golden Eagle tried to remain within striking distance of the Crimson Hawks. 

Wayne did her part to add to the scoring picking up a second place finish in the 100 Free touching the wall with a final time of 1:02.53, while just one event later Arnold took second in the 100 Back with a final time of 1:02.53.

To round out the individual scoring for the Golden Eagles, Smith finished second in the 500 Free and Chalus took home a third place finish in the 100 Breaststroke.

The 200 Free Relay team of Stephanie Setar, Chalus, Kosanovic and Kaitlynn Henninge finished the day with a third place finish touching the wall with a final mark of 1:49.06.
