ERIE, Pa. - Taking their second road trip of the season, the Clarion men's basketball team traveled to Erie to take on the Mercyhurst Lakers, falling by a final score of 91-54 on Wednesday afternoon. The loss moves the Golden Eagles to 1-3 overall on the young season, while the Lakers improve to a perfect 7-0 on the year.Â
Freshman Gerald Jarmon and Sophomore Jordan Agyemang paced the Clarion attack, both putting up 12 points for the blue and gold. Making his second start of the season Jarmon went 4 of 9 shooting from beyond the arc, while grabbing three rebounds and dishing out two assists in 32 minutes of action.Â
Agyemang was a solid 50% from the field in 24 minutes on the floor for the Golden Eagles, grabbing a team high five rebounds while adding one block to the stat sheet. Lawrence Lemon and Steve Kelly were the top facilitators of the afternoon, both handing out three assists.Â
Clarion started the game hot, shooting an impressive 50% from the field and a remarkable 64% from beyond the arc in the first half, but the Lakers still held the advantage heading into the locker room 48-29.Â
Points in the paint seemed to be the difference maker as the Lakers found themselves scoring almost strictly from the low block for half of their points, while the Golden Eagles picked up just 14 points in the paint.Â
MiyKah McIntosh paved the way for Mercyhurst, scoring a game high 25 points, while grabbing five rebounds and adding one steal. Nick Lang found himself having a hot hand shooting a perfect 100% from the field, adding 13 points to the Laker attack.Â
