CLARION, Pa. - Returning to Tippin for their second straight home meet, the Clarion men's swimming and diving team took on the Gannon Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon, falling by a final score of 143-96.
Jordan Morret and Andrew Cestra got the scoring started for the blue and gold with the 1M dive. Morret was able to grab the top spot finishing with a final mark of 255.68, while Cestra picked up third with a score of 233.40.Â
In the 3M Morret grabbed the top spot once again with a final mark of 259.58, while Cestra finished second with a mark of 237.53.Â
The A team of Corey Mock, Nolan Songer, Jimmy Connor and Trent Napholz got the scoring started in the swimming portion of the pool, finishing the 200 Medley Relay in third place with a time of 1:43.09. Â
The trio of Ty Rabenstein, Bobby Shotts and Micah Phillips went 2,3,4 in the 1000 Free with Radenstein picking up the best time, touching the with a final time 10:24.78.Â
A few events later in the 50 Free, Jacob Yant picked up a second place finish followed by Napholz with times of 22.40 and 22.83 respectively.Â
Picking up their first victory of the afternoon, reigning PSAC Freshman of the Year Connor Cary paced the field in the 200 IM, racing to a 2:00.99 finish and first palace on teh podium, while Aidan Mohren and Hayden Steiner placed third and fourth respectively. Â
Cary found himself on a hot streak, proving clutch for the Golden Eagles, picking up a first place finish in arguably his best event in the water, the 100 Fly, pacing the field with a mark of 51.74.Â
Heading into the 100 Back and looking to build momentum, Mock finished in second place with a final time of 55.92 and four team points, keeping Clarion within striking distance of the Golden Knights.Â
Rabenstein found success in the last distance swim of the afternoon, taking second in the 500 Free with a final time of 5:04.02 for four team points.
Rounding out the scoring for Clarion was the A team of Cary, Joseph Folz, Rabenstein and Yant in the 400 Free Relay finished with a time of 3:15.13, good enough for four team points.
The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday, February 13, when they travel to Edinboro to take on the Fighting Scots.
