Men's Hoops Travels to Erie, Downed by Golden Knights 75-66

ERIE, Pa. - The Clarion men's basketball team traveled north to Erie to take on the hosting Gannon Golden Knights at the Hammermill Center in PSAC conference play, falling by a final score of 75-66. Gerald Jarmon paced the way for the Golden Eagles scoring a game high 21 points in 29 minutes of play, while Lawrence Lemon followed closely behind with 17 points.

The loss moves Clarion to 7-9 on the season and 3-8 in the conference, while the win helps Gannon improve to 9-5 on the year and 6-4 in PSAC play.

The Golden Knights cruised to an early 10-3 lead to start the game, but after Connor Ferrell found Lemon on a drive and kick for a three pointer, Clarion pulled back within four points and after a rebound and a three from Jarmon, the Golden Eagle offense was off and running trailing by just one point.

Clarion grabbed the lead at the 11:38 mark after Mason Mraz found Ferrell for a three pointer giving the Blue and Gold an 11-10 lead.

Gannon found their footing on offense to close out the first half building an 11 point lead heading into the locker room at the half, shooting 45% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.

Lemon started the second half with a dagger, knocking down a three pointer to pull the Golden Eagles back within single digits and after a Steve Kelley layup made the score 35-29 Clarion was back within two possessions and striking distance of Gannon.

Gannon stretched their lead back to double digits, courtesy of some hot shooting from long range. Stretching their lead to as big as 15 points before Clarion started to make some shots of their own.

Ferrell made a jumper at the 13:53 mark and Jarmon followed that up with three consecutive baskets cutting the Gannon lead to seven points.

Gannon continued their hot shooting stretching the lead back to double digits before Lemon made a layup with just four seconds left in regulation as Clarion fell 75-66.

Clarion will be back in action on Saturday, January 29th as they head south to Greensburg to take on the Seton Hill Griffins. Tipoff is set for 3 pm.
