CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle men's basketball team played evenly with their opponent in the second half, but Clarion was unable to make up any ground on Concord as the Mountain Lions won by an 80-60 score on Sunday afternoon.

ÂÂ
Mekhi Reynolds and
Cam Kearney provided plenty of offensive punch for the Golden Eagles, combining for 42 points between the two of them. Reynolds scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-22 shooting, while Kearney went off for 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
Â
The teams were nearly even in terms of rebounding, with the Mountain Lions gaining 33 boards and the Golden Eagles just 22, and Clarion committed a paltry 10 turnovers, compared to Concord's 11 giveaways. The biggest difference was Concord's offensive efficiency, as the Mountain Lions shot 32-of-55 (.582) as a team, and the Golden Eagles went just 24-of-63 (.381) from the field.
Â
Concord scored the first five points of the game, and it was not until Reynolds' jumper at the 16:34 mark that the Golden Eagles made a field goal in the contest. Kearney sank a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 7-6 and
Madior Seye made a jumper in the paint at the 14:12 mark to keep it just a one-point game. Clarion kept the Mountain Lions from pulling away too far early on, with
Jihad Simpson making it 20-17 on a free throw, but Concord closed the half on an 18-6 run to take a 38-23 lead into the halftime break.
Â
Seye helped the Golden Eagles get back into the action early in the second half, scoring off an offensive rebound to cut the lead to 38-25. The Mountain Lions did eventually push the lead to 20 points, with Jevon Laidler taking a pass from Ethan Heller and laying it in to make it 45-25. Reynolds pulled the lead back under 20 points with a three-pointer at the 11:02 mark, and he finished off an and-one at the 10:24 mark to make it 58-42.
Â
Justice Easter provided a boost midway through the half, hitting three-pointer to make it 60-47, and Reynolds again made it a 13-point game with a bucket at the 3:56 mark. Clarion got no closer, though, as Concord expanded their lead back to 20 points.
