KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle men's basketball team recovered from an early slow start, but Clarion was unable to close the gap in the second half in falling 76-64 to Kutztown at Keystone Arena on Saturday night.

Clarion was outscored by a decent margin in the first half but turned the tables on the Golden Bears in the second, out-pacing them 43-38 in the final 20 minutes of play to cut down the margin. However, the Golden Eagles were unable to totally erase a tough first half in falling on the road to Kutztown.

Four Golden Eagles cracked double-digits in scoring, led by a game-high 19 points from
Mekhi Reynolds. The guard went 7-of-16 from the field and also made a pair of three-pointers.
Gerald Jarmon finished with 14 points, while freshmen
Justice Easter and
Cam Kearney each recorded 11 points. Easter tied with teammate
Madior Seye for a team-high six rebounds.

Amazingly, the Golden Eagles were not officially credited with any turnovers in the game, but Clarion shot just 33.8 percent from the field. On the flip side, Kutztown was credited with 24 turnovers, but shot 26-of-44 from the field for a 59.1 percent attack.

Kutztown got off to a 13-4 lead in the first half, with Josh Samec hitting a three-pointer at the 14:02 mark to make it a nine-point game. The deficit soon reached double-digits as well as 20 points, though Reynolds hit a jumper in the waning seconds of the first half to cut the lead down. Seye stole the ball from Chase Whippen to spark a possession and Reynolds took it from there, hitting a midrange jumper with 28 seconds left to cut it to 38-21.

The real action for the Golden Eagles started in the second half. Jarmon cut the lead to 14 points early in the period, hitting a jumper in the paint to cut the lead to 45-31. Easter pulled the Golden Eagles to within 54-40 with a three-pointer at 10:26 of the period, but that was all the closer Clarion got until Reynolds swipe the ball from Kyree Generett and scored on the fast break to make it 72-59. Reynolds sank three free throws on a foul by Wesley Butler with 36 seconds remaining, pulling the Golden Eagles to within 74-64, but Generett scored with six seconds left to set the final score.
