YORK, Pa. – The Golden Eagle men's swimming & diving team put a cap on top of a strong week at the 2022 PSAC Championships, with Clarion's showing on Saturday locking up a fourth-place finish at the meet. Clarion finished with 435 team points, well ahead of fifth-place IUP and within striking distance of third-place Gannon.

The highlight of the day was another performance by freshman
David Bocci, this time in the 200 Back. One night after winning his first career conference championship, Bocci came within fractions of a second of winning another, taking second place with a time of 1:50.77. That represented better than a full second improvement from his prelim time on Saturday morning, and was just a half-second short of beating West Chester's Logan Brockway for first place. Bocci was not the only Golden Eagle to score in the event.
Mason Irwin placed ninth with a time of 1:53.87, marking another strong individual finish for the freshman.

Another individual event where Golden Eagle men stacked up points was in the 1650 Free, with two Clarion swimmers placing in the top-eight.
Ty Rabenstein posted his second strong performance in the distance events of the week, taking fifth with a time of 16:22.52. Coming in exactly one second behind him was sophomore
Trent Napholz, who placed sixth with a time of 16:23.52.

Jacob Yant provided some points for Clarion in the 100 Free, touching the wall in 46.57 to take 12
th place overall.
Paul Flowers provided a 12
th-place finish in the 200 Breaststroke, finishing in 2:09.90. Wrapping up the night and the week for Clarion was the 400 Free Relay team of
Connor Cary, Irwin, Napholz and Yant, taking fifth with a time of 3:06.24.
