Wrestling Routs Edinboro for Sixth Straight Dual W

CLARION, Pa. --- Riding high on three wins by fall to pad an impressive points total, the Golden Eagle wrestling team routed Edinboro 28-12 for their sixth straight dual victory on Friday night. With the win, Clarion improved to 9-3 in dual matches and 6-1 in Mid-American Conference (MAC) duals, ensuring themselves of winning records in both for the season.

The victory was the fourth straight win for the Golden Eagles over the Fighting Scots, and their first in Tippin Gym since at least 2010. Clarion won six of the 10 bouts on the night, but notably four of those victories came with bonus points and three of them were wins by fall. That gave the Golden Eagles a huge advantage in the team match as Edinboro was unable to keep pace with four wins by decision.

John Worthing got things going on the night with his fifth straight dual bout victory, working the Fighting Scots' Joseph Arnold for a 12-2 major decision. Things blew up for Clarion in the very next bout as Will Feldkamp wrapped up his team-leading eighth win by fall of the season. The 184-pounder ranked among the country's leaders in pins in last week's ranking release and added another to his tally in the second period, tying up Jack Kilner's arms and bringing him to his back with 29 seconds left in the frame. With Kilner in the tough position, Feldkamp squeezed him for the fall.

Ty Bagoly and Joey Fischer recorded decisions at 197 and 125 pounds respectively, giving Clarion a 13-3 team lead through the first half of the dual. The Fighting Scots pulled to within 16-6 after a decision at 133 pounds and looked to be in position to add on in the 141-pound match, when Amonn Ohl took a 6-0 lead late into the second period. Seth Koleno turned the situation around in a heartbeat, slapping a front headlock on Ohl and locking him into a cradle. The 6-0 deficit turned into a win by fall for the senior Koleno, giving Clarion a 22-6 advantage.

Ryan Burgos and Luke Kemerer won decisions in the following two matches, but it was not enough to get them back into the team bout as the Golden Eagles ensured themselves of a dual victory. Cam Pine decided to pull off one more win by fall for good measure, squeezing Alex Garee for a first-period fall in the 165-pound bout to finish off the 28-12 win.
