GREENSBURG, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle soccer team played their penultimate game of the 2023 season on Tuesday afternoon, falling by a 3-0 score to Seton Hill at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. Clarion generated good possession early in the game but could not put away their opportunities, while the Griffins eventually took control of the action after the early moments.

Clarion started out the game keeping the Griffins on their heels, forcing an early corner kick in just the fifth minute of play.
Kylee Cross lifted the kick toward net but
Nicole Brown missed on the shooting opportunity, missing wide on her attempt on goal.

Seton Hill put a number of shots on goalkeeper
Alex Velez, though the senior keeper was able to turn away the aggressive Griffins for the early part of the half. The Griffins finally broke through in the 37
th minute, with Victoria Rothrauff scoring her second of the season to give her side a 1-0 advantage before the halftime break.

The Golden Eagles shot more aggressively in the second half but ran into a tough Seton Hill defense, with
Sam Felder and
Reese Aquilio having shots on net blocked by Griffins defenders. The Griffins expanded their lead to 2-0 in the 68
th minute on a goal by Katie Pazdziorko, and Rothrauff tallied her second of the game just a few minutes later to extend the lead to three goals.

Clarion's best scoring opportunity of the second half came in the 82
nd minute, when a free kick landed on the foot of
Carly Fairchild. Fairchild lunged for the ball in the box but it popped over the net and out of play.

The Golden Eagles finished with five total shots on Friday, while Seton Hill recorded 15 shots. Of those 10 went on goal, with Velez making seven saves. Felder led all Golden Eagles with two total shots.

The Golden Eagles' season will conclude on Friday evening when Clarion hosts Pitt-Johnstown at Memorial Stadium for Senior Night.
