Women's Golf in 7th at Michael Corbett Fall Classic

ERIE, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle women's golf team held their own on the opening day of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic on Sunday, sitting in seventh after the first round played at Whispering Woods Golf Club. Clarion shot a team score of 350 on Sunday, just five strokes behind sixth-place West Chester and seven strokes ahead of Millersville.
 
Sylvia Stibley had an encouraging start to her weekend, carding two birdies en route to a team-best 84 on Sunday. She birdied the par-four 5th hole as well as the apar-3 14th hole and scored par on five other holes, which tied her for 19th in the field in the first round. Hannah Smith tied for 33rd in the field with an 88, shooting a birdie on the par-3 2nd hole.
 
Another freshman, McKayla Kerle, as well as sophomore Hailee Liptak, tied for 35th in the field with scores of 89. Liptak had the best hole of the day for any Golden Eagle golfer when she eagled the par-5 3rd hoel, and she also logged a birdie on the par-5 15th to reach her score.
 
Samantha Huth rounded out the entrants for the Golden Eagles on Sunday, tying for 52nd with a score of 99.
