ERIE, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle women's golf team held their own on the opening day of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic on Sunday, sitting in seventh after the first round played at Whispering Woods Golf Club. Clarion shot a team score of 350 on Sunday, just five strokes behind sixth-place West Chester and seven strokes ahead of Millersville.

Sylvia Stibley had an encouraging start to her weekend, carding two birdies en route to a team-best 84 on Sunday. She birdied the par-four 5
th hole as well as the apar-3 14
th hole and scored par on five other holes, which tied her for 19
th in the field in the first round.
Hannah Smith tied for 33
rd in the field with an 88, shooting a birdie on the par-3 2
nd hole.

Another freshman,
McKayla Kerle, as well as sophomore
Hailee Liptak, tied for 35
th in the field with scores of 89. Liptak had the best hole of the day for any Golden Eagle golfer when she eagled the par-5 3
rd hoel, and she also logged a birdie on the par-5 15
th to reach her score.

Samantha Huth rounded out the entrants for the Golden Eagles on Sunday, tying for 52
nd with a score of 99.
