UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle wrestling team closed out their dual season with a match against the top team in the nation on Sunday, with Clarion falling to first-ranked Penn State by a 40-6 score in Rec Hall.  

Facing a lineup where seven wrestlers ranked in the top-10 of their respective weight classes, including a number currently sitting at No. 1, the Golden Eagles remained undeterred in taking on the monumental class. Clarion did manage to take one match away from the Nittany Lions and wrestled close in a number of others. 

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly Will Feldkamp's win at 184 pounds, with the senior pinning Penn State's Donovan Ball. Feldkamp picked up the first period fall for his 10th win by fall of the season, as well as his second pin of the weekend. He is now one of only seven wrestlers in the nation with 10 or more wins by fall this season, and trails only Lock Haven's Ty Stoltzfus in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). 

Wrestling well against the top-ranked wrestlers in the country was Ty Bagoly, who kept it close against No.1-ranked Max Dean before losing by a 9-5 score. Joey Fischer wrestled a tight match against Gary Steen at 125 pounds but ultimately dropped a 5-1 decision, and Cam Pine lost in a high-scoring duel with 10th-ranked Alex Facundo. 

The Nittany Lions claimed two wins by fall on the day, with Roman Bravo-Young doing so at 133 pounds and Greg Kerkvliet in the heavyweight bout. Shayne Van Ness, Levi Haines and Carter Starocci tacked on technical falls to pad the points total.
