GREENVILLE, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle track & field team came out in force on Saturday afternoon, shining at the Thiel Tomcat Invitational.
Â
The Golden Eagles took each of the top three spots in the Discus.
Shelly Jones led the way for the Golden Eagles and the entire field with a distance of 37.38m, followed by
Madison Brooks' second-place finish and mark of 36.53m.
Emma Pesicka rounded out that with a third-place finish, hitting a mark of 35.82m.
Â
Jones was also the winner in the Shot Put, leading the field with an attempt of 13.39m. That represented a new PR for the senior thrower, topping her previous outdoor mark of 13.30m set at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge earlier this year. Pesicka took fifth in the event with a toss of 11.32m.
Â
Emily Lodge and
Delaney Beard had big days in the Long Jump, placing second and fifth respectively in the field. Both jumpers hit PRs in the event, with Lodge blowing away her previous best with a mark of 5.22m. She achieved that distance on her third attempt of the day. Beard, meanwhile, edged out her previous Long Jump PR with a mark of 5.19m, clocking in seven-tenths of a meter ahead of a mark set indoors earlier this year.
Â
Beard and Lodge followed that up with good performances in the Triple Jump. The former came up just shy of matching her previous PR, hitting a mark of 11.47m to place third. Lodge took sixth, jumping to a PR of 10.32m.
Â
Elsewhere in the field,
Emily Pleslusky placed fourth in the Pole Vault with a PR of 3.11m, which put her just below a PSAC-qualifying mark in the event.Â
Â
Kaylen Sharrow enjoyed a strong finish in the 100m Hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 16.60. That represented a new PR by a matter of eight-hundredths of a second, breaking her previous best, set in 2021 at the Mountain Cat Last Chance.
Hannah Redwood also stood out in the sprint events, starting with a PR of 13.05 in the prelim of the 100m. That led to her taking second place in the final, with Redwood coming up just one-hundredth of a second short of her prelim time with a 13.06. She also placed sixth in the 200m with a PR of 26.62.
Â
Sharrow and Redwood were part of the fourth-place 4x100 Relay Team, joining Lodge and Beard to finish in a time of 50.57. That represented the best time of the season for the Golden Eagles in the event. Elsewhere in the sprints,
Emily McDonnell placed eighth in the 400m, finishing in a time of 1:02.53.
Â
In the distance events,
Mackenzie Carver came up just shy of hitting a PSAC-qualifying mark in the 1500m, taking fourth in the field. She finished the race in 4:59.15, less than a second shy of a new PR and two seconds short of hitting the conference mark.
Caleigh Aigler placed ninth in the 800m with a time of 2:37.18. Aigler was also part of the 4x400 Relay team, joining Emily and
Karly McDonnell as well as
