CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagle tennis team sent off their senior class on Sunday afternoon, as Clarion hosted Lock Haven for a match at Campbell Courts. The Bald Eagles won the match by a 6-1 score.
Â
A number of matches on Sunday were close, with the Golden Eagles coming close to perhaps flipping the result if things had gone slightly differently. Lock Haven won the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles, with Olivia Anastos and Olivia Sharp beating
Alyson Fisher and
Josie Beckerleg 6-3 in the latter.
Savannah Buttery and
Charlie Allison dropped a 6-1 decision in the No. 1 match as the Bald Eagles took the point.
Â
Allison was the Golden Eagles' winner in the No. 4 singles match, marking her second straight win and her fourth singles win of the season. She topped Mary Kathryn Hillman in the first set by a 7-6 score, winning the tiebreaker 7-5, and then cruised to a 6-1 score in the second set for the win.
Â
Alexis Strouse came very close to taking the No. 1 singles match from Maddy Reeves, pushing the action to a third set before losing in a tiebreaker. After falling 6-1 in the first set Strouse won the second 6-2, and a full third set was needed to determine the winner. That set also went to a tiebreaker but Reeves got the better of it, winning 7-3 to clinch the point.
