CLARION, Pa. --- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2023 Men's At-Large Academic All-District Teams today. Four Golden Eagle student-athletes –
Austin Chapman and
Mason Prinkey of the wrestling team, and
Will Meyer and
Hayden Siegel of the men's golf team – made the cut and will now appear on the Academic All-America ballot.
To earn Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must possess a grade-point average of 3.50 or better, be at least a sophomore academically as well as in terms of eligibility, and be a starter or important reserve on their team. The At-Large sports umbrella covers all sports that do not have their own Academic All-District classification.
Chapman (3.53 – Medical Imaging Services) finished his first season as the Golden Eagles' starter at heavyweight, going 9-15 overall in 2022-23. He was an Academic All-MAC selection for the first time in his career as well.
Meyer (3.85 – Finance) posted the lowest average round on the Golden Eagles' in 2022-23, averaging a 78.1 for the year. He also shot the team's lowest round of the season, a 69 at the Vulcan Invitational in September.
Prinkey (3.82 – Management) locked up the starting job at 133 pounds midway through the season, finishing the year with a 7-14 overall record. Like Chapman, he was also an Academic All-MAC selection.
Siegel (3.55 – Secondary Education, Social Studies) shot one of the best rounds of the year for the Golden Eagles, carding a 73 at the Vulcan Invitational in September. He averaged an 81.5 per round for the season.
