Women's Swimmers Kick Off Season at PSAC Meets

YORK, Pa. --- The swimmers of the Golden Eagles women's swimming & diving team kicked off the 2024-25 season with a pair of meets on Friday, taking second place finishes in both the PSAC Sprint Frenzy and the PSAC Invitational at the Graham Aquatic Center. They finished just behind West Chester in both meets.
 
Sprint Frenzy Recap
 
The day started with the Sprint Frenzy, and the Golden Eagles got their first race win of the season in the 50 Free when Hannah Greenway paced the field in the shortest event in the pool. She edged out West Chester's Sam Trumble by one-hundredth of a second, touching the wall in 24.36. Madelynn McTeer took third in the 50 Free, coming in at 24.86.
 
The other big win on Friday came in the final event of the day, with the 200 Free Relay team of Haley Miller, Joslyn Jurski, McTeer and Greenway taking the top spot. Each successive leg of the relay was faster than the one before it, with Greenway cruising on the anchor leg with a time of 23.89.
 
The day started with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Zoey Beck, McTeer, Greenway and Amanda Fetsko completed the circuit in a time of 1:51.88. Jurski followed up in the first individual event, placing second in the 100 Free with a PSAC-qualifying mark of 55.06. Erika Zimmerman also hit a conference qualifying time of 56.15. Rachael Hess took third in the 50 Fly with a time of 27.13, rounding out the top-three finishes for the Golden Eagles in the first meet.

The first individual win of the second meet came courtesy of Joslyn Jurski, who topped the rest of the field in the 200 Free by nearly three full seconds. Jurski finished the race in a time of 1:57.19, beating out the Golden Rams' Danielle Stewart, who completed the race in 1:59.77. She was also part of the 400 Free Relay team that closed out the day with a second-place finish, swimming the opening leg of the race. Fetsko, McTeer and Haley Miller filled out the rest of the team, helping the foursome to a time of 3:39.79.
 
Greenway and Alayna Ohlson both recorded top-four finishes in the 100 Fly, and recorded PSAC-qualifying times in the process. The former touched the wall in a time of 1:00.25 while the latter came in less than a second behind her at 1:01.13. Emma Dorsey made it three Golden Eagles in the top-six, taking sixth with a time of 1:02.03.
 
Later on, Hess picked up a PSAC cut in the 200 IM, placing seventh overall with a time of 2:18.19. She was one of three Golden Eagles to place in the top-10 of that event, with Maria Wold and Sarah Grimenstein coming in just behind her to account for a significant chunk of points.
 
There was another third-place relay finish to start the meet, with the 400 Medley Relay squad of Beck, McTeer, Greenway and Fetsko finishing in a time of 4:08.66. Three Golden Eagles finished in the top-10 of the 100 Back, led by Wold, who took seventh with a time of 1:03.50. Sydney Updegrave and Stella Chierico also finished near the top.
