Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles men's swimming & diving team ran their dual meet record to 3-0 on Friday night, beating Shippensburg 115-70 in a road contest.

It was another primetime effort for the Golden Eagles, who won the lion's share of events against the Raiders en route to their dual meet victory. As has been the case most of the year they won both of the relays contested and racked up points in the specialty strokes. Things started with a win in the 400 Medley Relay, with the foursome of Henry Miller, Dominic Cortopassi, David Bocci and Gavin Guckavan smoking the field with a seven-second advantage, winning in a time of 3:28.39.

Carson Wolbert kept the good times going with a win in his first individual event, pacing the field in the 200 Free with a time of 1:47.89. Cortopassi – the reigning PSAC Men's Swimmer of the Week – continued his impressive start to the year, winning the 200 IM by a margin of six seconds. He beat the Raiders' David Johnson with a time of 1:57.18. Henry Miller followed up with an individual win of his own, pacing the field in the 100 Fly with a time of 52.30.

Bocci added another notch to his belt in the 100 Back, winning with a time of 52.74. Wolbert helped the Golden Eagles tack on the points with a second-place finish, touching the wall in 55.45 for second place. The big chunk of points came in the 100 Breast, with Cortopassi, Miller and Bocci finishing 1-2-3 for 16 of the 19 points in the event. Cortopassi won with a time of 57.42, followed by Miller at 1:00.75 and Bocci at 1:00.89.

Closing out the night was the 200 Free Relay team, who picked up a win in the last event to wrap the win. Austin Prokopec, Mason Peck, Mason Irwin and Guckavan came in a second ahead of the Raiders' top quartet, finishing with a time of 1:26.48.
