Women's Swimming & Diving Routs Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles women's swimming & diving team continued their hot streak to start the 2024-25 season, routing Shippensburg by a score of 136-50 in a road dual on Friday.
 
The Golden Eagles won the majority of the events against the Raiders, including both relays to stack up a slew of points against Shippensburg. Things started off with the 400 Medley Relay, where the top three Golden Eagles' foursomes touched the wall before any Shippensburg athlete did so. The quartet of Zoey Beck, Madelynn McTeer, Hannah Greenway and Haley Miller took the top spot with a time of 4:06.66. They were followed immediately by Sydney Updegrave, Sarah Grimenstein, Alayna Ohlson and Jordan Kutchak, who took second with a time of 4:12.02.
 
Joslyn Jurski followed up in the individual events, taking the win in the 200 Free with a. time of 1:58.14, and the Golden Eagles followed up by taking the top three spots in the 50 Free. McTeer was first with a time of 24.94, followed by Gabrielle Webster (25.79) and Kutchak (26.13) for a slew of points.
 
The Golden Eagles pulled off the same trick in the 200 IM, taking the top three spots. Grimenstein won the race with a time of 2:15.53, followed by Eva Molenaar (2:17.74) and Rachael Hess (2:17.82). Hess's time was nearly five seconds ahead of the top time for the Raiders' with Gracie Wetzel coming in at 2:22.29. Clarion took the top two spots in the 100 Fly as well, with Rachel Carapello winning in a time of 1:01.22 and Emma Dorsey coming in second at 1:02.14.
 
Greenway, the reigning PSAC Women's Swimmer of the Week, went on to win the 100 Free, touching the wall in a time of 53.95 that was just shy of three-quarters of a second ahead of Shippensburg's Laurel Gingrich. Beck and Updegrave recorded the top two finishes in the 100 Back, with Beck taking first in a time of 1:00.25 and Updegrave second with a 1:01.51, and Jurski won the 500 Free with a time of 5:19.60.
 
The 200 Free Relay closed things out with a win, beating the top Raiders foursome by a span of three seconds. Greenway, Kutchak, Jurski and Miller finished in a time of 1:38.77.
