Women's Swimming & Diving Wins PennWest Duals

EDINBORO, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles women's swimming & diving team topped both opponents they faced on Saturday afternoon at the PennWest Duals, beating Edinboro 101-99 and California (PA) 143-59 at McComb Fieldhouse.

Clarion's depth proved to be the difference on Saturday, as Golden Eagle swimmers represented the winners in four individual events and one relay. Along the way they were able to rack up team points in the other events to keep pace with the Fighting Scots, before passing them in the final event of the day. That was the 200 Free Relay, with the foursome of Joslyn Jurski, Jordan Kutchak, Madelynn McTeer and Haley Miller just edging out Edinboro with a time of 1:39.33. That was 0.31 seconds faster than the Fighting Scots' relay team, locking up the team win over them.

Hannah Greenway earned the first individual win of the day in the fourth overall event, leading the way in the 50 Free. Greenway just beat out Edinboro's Kately Reott by just two-hundredths of a second, touching the wall in a time of 24.32 in one of the closest races of the day.

Eva Molenaar followed Greenway with the first of two individual wins on Saturday, pacing the field in the 400 IM. Molenaar took first with a time of 4:45.83, putting her six seconds ahead of the Fighting Scots' Baila Bugara. Later in the day Molenaar won the 100 Breast with a time of 1:08.27.

The fourth individual winner of the day was Alayna Ohlson, who led a stack of three Golden Eagles in the top-four in the 100 Fly. Ohlson touched the wall in a time of 1:00.27, more than a full second ahead of Edinboro's Alexis Schrecongost. Emma Dorsey and Rachel Carapella filled out the top four.
