Cortopassi Wins 100 Fly on Day 2 of PSAC Championships

YORK, Pa. --- Dominic Cortopassi won his first career individual Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship on Tuesday night, highlighting an exciting second day of the 2025 PSAC Swimming Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center.

The Golden Eagle men currently sit in third place in the conference with 274 team points.

Cortopassi had come close in the past to claiming an individual PSAC crown, most recently just 24 hours prior to Tuesday's action in the 200 IM finals. He broke through for the win in the 100 Fly, edging out teammate David Bocci for the fastest time in the event with a 47.92. Bocci was just behind him with a time of 48.20, while Gavin Guckavan came just 0.13 seconds from making it a clean sweep at the top with a time of 48.69. He finished fourth.

With Cortopassi's win, the Golden Eagles' dominance in the butterfly events continued. A Clarion swimmer has now won four of the last five 100 Fly events, with Connor Cary winning the event in 2021 and in two consecutive years in 2023-24.

The Golden Eagles' night started with another All-PSAC finish, as the 200 Free Relay team of Guckavan, Henry Miller, Mason Irwin and Austin Prokopec took second place in the field with a time of 1:22.60. Prokopec showed well as the anchor leg, touching the wall in 20.15.

Prokopec, Miller and Mason Peck were also finalist in the 100 Fly on Tuesday, competing in the B final to give Clarion six finalists in the event. They took 13th through 15th places, respectively.

Michael Lintelman logged another individual All-PSAC finish, doing so in the 400 IM. Lintelman was less than a second away from Bloomsburg's Nick Zaffiro in second place, finishing in third with a time of 4:01.59. Mason Irwin won the B heat of the event with a time of 4:04.97, ranking ninth overall, while Ryan Ehlers took 14th with a time of 4:13.93.

The tightest finish of the night came in the 400 Medley Relay, where the Golden Eagle men came just fractions of a second of beating West Chester but were forced to settle for second place. Bocci, Guckavan, Cortopassi and Prokopec finished with a time of 3:17.45, coming in just 0.23 seconds behind the Golden Rams.
