CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles women's golf team set a program record with the best single-round score in team history, leading the pack at the Golden Eagle Autumn Invitational at Clarion Oaks after 18 holes on Saturday.

Clarion had two of their four scorers –
Hannah Smith and
McKayla Kerle – shoot 79 or better on Saturday, with Smith tying the best round of her career and the second-best round in program history with a score of 74. Kerle shot a 79, while
Kennady Norton posted an 80 and
Amber Roth an 86. That totaled up to a score of 317, breaking the program record of 326 set at the 2009 PSAC Championship.

Smith finished the day ahead of the rest of the field of 24, carding three birdies en route to a score of 74. She was just one over par on the back nine, making birdie on the par-five No. 14 hole. Smith actually started her day with back-to-back birdies, making a three on the par-four No. 2 and following up with one on the par-five No. 3.

Kerle was not far behind Smith, posting a score of 79. The highlight of Kerle's day was on No. 16, when she made eagle on the par-five. Combined with another birdie on the back nine, she posted a score of 39 on the back and tied for third in the field.

Kennady Norton checked in at sixth place on the leaderboard, recording three birdies and a score of 80. She was just two over on the front nine, making two birdies – on No. 3 and No. 4 – to post a 38.
Amber Roth rounded out the scoring, placing ninth after the first round with a score of 86, while
Rylee Thompson shot an 87 to tie for 11
th.
