WASHINGTON, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles women's golf team sat near the top of the leaderboard after the first day of the Vulcan Fire Classic on Monday, ranking third in the field after 18 holes at Lone Pine Country Club. Clarion posted a team score of 371, behind only Gannon (334) and Glenville State (348).

McKayla Kerle cracked the top 10 in the field after the first round, finishing ninth with a score of 85. Kerle carded a score of 41 on the back nine, including pars on three of her final four holes.
Hannah Smith was just behind her, shooting a 90 to place 17
th in the field.

Kennady Norton was the third finisher on the team, posting a score of 96, while
Rylee Thompson rounded out the team scoring with an even 100. Thompson had the lone birdie for the Golden Eagles on Monday, carding a two on the par-three 12
th hole.
Amber Roth rounded out the team entry with a score of 106.
