CLARION, Pa. --- The Golden Eagles tennis team kicked off the 2026-27 tennis season on Saturday, falling by a 7-0 score to Penn State Altoona at Campbell Courts.

With inclement weather on the horizon, the teams flipped the order of play in order to ensure singles action was completed. The Nittany Lions took all six singles matches on the court, locking up their team win early. Kasey Shuke defeated
Polia Vladeva 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match to open the scoring and Abigail Morgan followed with a straight sets win over
Cecilia Ellis at No. 5 singles. Lexi Colaianni and Daniel Fulton followed with wins at Nos. 2 and 6 singles, respectively, to clinch the match win.

The doubles session was much more competitive, with the Golden Eagles pushing the Nittany Lions in two of the three contests. In the No. 1 doubles match, the duo of Vladeva and
Emily McMahan played it tight against Sienna Fell and Abigail Morgan before falling 7-5, while the duo of Thomas and Chole Albrecht forcing a tiebreaker in the No. 2 doubles match against Colaianni and Fulton. With the set score tied at 6-6, the Nittany Lions' pairing won the breaker 7-2 to take the match.
