(Clarion, Pa.) Clarion junior Jaclyn Metzger came away with the win at #1 singles, but that was all the scoring the Golden Eagles could record on Friday as East Stroudsburg defeated Clarion 8-1 in women's tennis action.
Clarion now falls to 0-2 on the season, while East Stroudsburg improves to 2-0.
Metzger defeated Amanda Kaufman at #1 singles by a 7-5, 6-2 score. Clarion's Michaela Hardy lost 6-1, 6-0 to Jamie Ferrigno at #2; Brittany Bucheit lost 6-1, 6-2 to Rabecca Lausch at #3; Alysia Sturdivant lost 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to Melanie DeMarco at #4; Lauren Eonta lost 6-4, 6-4 to Annie Vega at #5; and Claire Kerstetter lost 0-6, 3-6 to Jessica Wilson at #6.
Clarion's #1 doubles team of Metzger and Hardy lost to Ferrigno and Kaufman 8-3; while Bucheit and Eonta fell to Lausch and DeMarco 8-4 at #2 and Sturdivant and Gibson lost 8-4 to Vega and Wilson at #3.
Clarion is hosting the PSAC Crossover matches at Campbell Courts today and will host Shippensburg at 5pm – then host Bloomsburg at 11am on Saturday.
